At the boarding school, students have easy access to supportive teachers and mentors. At the same time, through living away from home, they develop maturity, a sense of responsibility and independence.
All students are accommodated in single rooms with private bathroom.
While a caring and stimulating boarding environment has “houseparents” and will hopefully become a home, it does not aim to replace the parental home.
What characterises successful boarding education are the very close friendships that are formed amongst one’s international peers, often the basis of real intercultural understanding.
Whether after classes, during activities and excursions into the host community or in quiet or fun evenings or on the weekend, a good boarding school offers a safe and effective place for study and for sharing and assuming responsibilities; it fosters both independence and empathy with others.
Communication with parents and family are valued over distance – and quality family time during vacations should be appreciated even more.
Academic pursuits, activities and boarding life complement each other seamlessly, with every student able to contribute to their own success.
The students wake up at 7:00, have breakfast from 7.30 to 7.45 and begin classes at 8:30. Break is between 10:45 and 11.00, lunch is from 13:15 to 14:00 and dinner from 19:30 to 20:30.
Meals are served in the student residence.
Meals are prepared utilising fresh, high quality ingredients. The daily menu varies, making use of seasonal products.
The catering service is regularly monitored by external specialists to certify the quality of the menu and the freshness of the ingredients, guaranteeing nutritionally balanced meals. For those who have any food allergies or dietary restrictions and preferences, it is possible to request special meals.
Boarding life is not confined to traditional school hours. The high school programme offers the opportunity for study and academic support, as well as a wide range of initiatives and activities throughout the week and on weekends.
Extra-curricular activities make good use of local links with the town of Oderzo and on weekends students can choose from an attractive range of excursions to Venice, the coast or the mountains. The province of Treviso offers endless opportunities. GSO campus, with its excellent sports facilities as well as its extensive parks and gardens, also invites students to enjoy exercise and moments of quietness and reflection.
GSO is both a boarding and day school. Relations between boarders and day students provide enrichment and opportunities for mutual hospitality for both groups. We expect our day students to actively participate in many activities in the evenings and on weekends. They, and their families, also provide strong local links to the region for our international boarding students.
